LMN is seeking a Planner and Urban Designer to join our team. LMN is an internationally recognized design practice made up of 100 diverse individuals who collectively design places that elevate the social experience. Our Urban Systems Lab leverages the firm’s multidisciplinary studio environment to engage in projects at the intersection of architecture, urban design, and planning. We take a research-based, systems-oriented approach to collaborative design and problem-solving. LMN’s work drives positive change through design excellence, equity, sustainability, and resilience, with a particular focus on infrastructure design, district planning, urban redevelopment, and strategic planning.
Key job responsibilities include:
- Generating design and planning alternatives for mobility and development projects
Leading GIS analysis for sites, networks, and neighborhoods - Producing clear diagrams to explain ideas, concepts, and alternatives
- Providing planning support for subarea and development projects
- Assisting with outreach and engagement
- 3D modeling and visualization in Rhino and Enscape
- Writing and producing highly visual and conceptually clear reports and presentations
A successful applicant will:
- Have an enthusiasm for city planning and urban design
- Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and engage in a dynamic team environment
- Express curiosity toward evolving tools and methods in planning and urban design, with a drive to explore, experiment, and rethink traditional approaches
- Have exposure to digital prototyping, fabrication, visualization, or immersive environments is preferred, especially when paired with a desire to contribute to team-wide knowledge and capability
- Show experience in and a commitment to inclusive and equitable stakeholder engagement
- Play a pivotal role in elevating the work of the Urban Systems Lab inside and outside of the office
Minimum qualifications:
- Professional degree in city planning, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, or a related field
- 0-3 years of experience in a range of planning and urban design contexts
- Proficiency in existing and emerging design and visualization tools and technologies, such as the Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, Revit, Arc GIS, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to self-direct and work independently as well as in a highly collaborative team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Office & Hybrid Hours
LMN employees collaborate in-office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Fridays are hybrid workdays that allow employees to work in the office, from home, or any location they choose. Core work hours are from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm, and provide flexibility for employees to structure their schedules around personal commitments and commuting.
Benefits
Eligible salaried employees receive an annual performance bonus depending on LMN profitability and individual performance. LMN offers medical, dental, and vision insurance to employees and their families, along with an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Depending on the employee’s choice of health insurance coverage, a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and a Health Savings Account (HSA) are available, as well as a Dependent Care FSA for employees with eligible dependents. Employees are also covered by long-term disability insurance and group term life insurance. After meeting eligibility requirements, employees may enroll in the LMN 401(k) plan, which includes discretionary matching and profit-sharing contributions. Employees accrue a minimum of 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO) during their first year and observe 9 holidays, including 2 floating holidays.
Compensation
This is a non-exempt, hourly position with a pay range of $30.00 to $34.00 per hour. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
