LMN Architects is currently seeking a Director of Business Development, aka “Chief Connector of Dots.” Operating within a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment, this person is responsible for facilitation of business development activities across market sectors as well as overall leadership of marketing and communication operations. An important emphasis of the position is to enhance overall firm visibility and strengthen cross-market BD strategies. Primary responsibilities include:

Business Development

  • Big picture thinker with a finger on the pulse of all BD and firm activities.
  • Develop BD vision and focus for each market sector in collaboration with the partners.
  • Daylight synergies and foster integration across all firm practice areas.
  • Lead development of cross-market strategy and opportunities.
  • Identify key BD opportunities with partners and staff.
  • Direct outreach to potential clients, collaborators, and advocates.
  • Empower and amplify partners and staff in BD outreach.
  • Track and coordinate BD outreach efforts.

Marketing

  • Marketing team leadership and oversight in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
  • Facilitate development of strategic positioning and approach to pursuits.
  • High level oversight of content quality and delivery of proposals and interviews.
  • Lead opportunity life cycle from pre-positioning to final selection.

Research and Planning

  • Oversee market research on leads, clients, competition, markets, industry, etc.
  • Facilitate and participate in client surveys and debriefs.
  • Develop annual marketing strategy, plan, and budget.
  • Effectively share knowledge.

Public Relations and Visibility

  • Oversee public relations in collaboration with the Communications and Media Strategist.
  • Oversee the development of the communications plan.
  • Attend appropriate conferences and industry events.
  • Actively engage key industry associations.
  • Be visible internally and externally including on the company intranet and social media.
  • Support partners and staff with external visibility and social media.

Qualifications

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Positive, confident, detail-oriented, and proactive, with ability to take ownership, organize work tasks, and manage multiple deadline-driven efforts.
  • Fast, efficient, and flexible with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience within the AEC or other design related industry required.
  • Familiarity with Client Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, or design related field preferred.

Eligible salaried employees receive an annual performance bonus depending on LMN profitability and individual performance. LMN employees and their family are offered medical, dental, and vision insurance, and an employee assistance program. A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and a Health Savings Account (HSA) are available depending upon the employee’s choice of health insurance coverage and a Dependent Care FSA for people with eligible dependents. Employees are also covered by life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and group term life insurance. Employees may enroll in the LMN 401(k) plan with discretionary matching and profit-sharing contributions after eligibility has been met. Employees accrue a minimum of 3 weeks of PTO during their first year with LMN and observe 9 holidays, including 2 floating holidays. The expected pay range for this position, based on experience, skills, and knowledge applicable to the role is between $150,000 and $220,000.
